Maltby Street Market, London

Borough Market used to dominate the food scene around London Bridge, but head closer towards Bermondsey on any sunny Saturday and you’ll find deli food suppliers and street food stalls bursting from the railway arches. The most concentrated street is Ropewalk, where Maltby Street Market now runs on both days of the weekend (most of the others in the area open Saturday only). There you can find, among others, fine organic wines at 40 Maltby Street, antique furnishings at LASSCO, anchovy toast & doughnuts at St John’s Bakery Rooms, and Little Bird Gin’s bar. Saturdays can get busy but get there early and you’ll find the day disappears rather easily.
