Geffrye Museum garden, London

It’’s easy to overlook the Geffrye Museum’s gardens. Accessed via a small stone staircase, a path leads past the tiny Ironmongers’ graveyard to the walled herb garden, where herbs are grouped by usage – medicinal, culinary, aromatic and so on. The period gardens are arranged in much the same way as the museum itself – 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th century –with benches to rest on and enjoy the space. Each garden has plenty to see and to smell – in a very different way to the rest of Kingsland Road.
